 Nearly 160 participants and 5 hours of hands-on knowledge - that’s the outcome of our brand-new event that we held for Bulgarian private and public sectors. On top of that, we are happy to find out that in our after-event survey, 96% of you said that you were very satisfied with the quality of the presentations. For those of you who couldn’t make it this time, we have prepared a short recap of our event.
CyberSec Day is an event for IT management and cybersecurity which was held by Axence in October as a part of Cybersecurity Awareness Month celebrations. Our goal was to share the best practices on IT security, compliance, and business continuity, tap into the expertise of IT management leaders and learn the latest tactics and methods of protection to secure the IT environment. We wanted to assist our audience in discovering solutions and services that support the successful and secure management of IT networks and stay tuned with the current trends.&nbsp;
We grouped talks by theme modules so that each of them covered different aspects of IT management and cybersecurity. In each module, we gathered a great speaker lineup - cybersecurity officers, industry experts, government representatives, and leaders from all sorts of businesses of key industries. Our guests could tap into the expertise of Jenny Boneva, Svetlin Iliev, Pavel Georgiev, Jasen Tanev, Miglen Evlogiev, Vladimir Dimitrov, to name a few.

The event started with the&nbsp;Opening Speech&nbsp;delivered by Miglen Evlogiev - the founder of the Bulgarian Cybersecurity Foundation. According to the expert, most data breaches are the result of phishing. One of the innovations in phishing in the last two or three years is a browser-in-the-browser attack in which JavaScript is used to pop up a window that looks exactly like the login screen with a username and password on a legitimate popular website. He also pointed out that phishing campaign simulations are the best way to train employees.

The Opening Speech was followed by the&nbsp;Discussion Panel, moderated by Svetlin Iliev from Bulgarian Cybersecurity Association. The experts discussed the current state of IT security, products, legislation, certification schemes, etc. Pavel Georgiev who is the Founder of Cyber Security Talks Bulgaria - an initiative that is holding monthly cybersecurity-themed events and it is building a community of professionals, hacktivists, tech enthusiasts, government representatives, and many more, stated that the advantage of communities is that people belong to a community because they want to.

The only female expert in the Discussion, Jenny Boneva shared a few very interesting takeaways. She claimed that establishing cybersecurity frameworks is the key part of establishing protection for organizations. She also pointed out that organizations are well-aware about the cybersecurity standards and best practices, however, customizing them is now the most challenging part. The reason for that is that information security is sometimes against the performance so it is important to balance those two functions.
The experience shared by Vladimir Dimitrov, representing the Bulgarian Cybercrime Unit, particularly caught the attention of the participants of the event. He mentioned some real-life cases from his everyday work and how he and his coworkers are dealing with cyber crimes.
Jasen Tanev, on the other hand, was supporting the view that building cyber awareness early on is key for ensuring cybersecurity. In this respect, universities play an important role.
IT Management and Security Module&nbsp;was inaugurated by Marcin Matuszewski, Senior IT Engineer at Axence. He strongly encouraged organizations to create their cybersecurity checklist. Since, it is yet difficult for businesses to completely anticipate and eliminate imminent cyber threats, having a solid cybersecurity checklist might come in handy to strengthen IT networks. This list should include such areas as critical infrastructure monitoring, asset inventory, user monitoring, etc.

The expert particularly pointed out how significant it is to optimize communication with the IT department to handle problems faster and more effectively.
The highlight of Marcin’s presentation was the demonstration of the malware attack which sparked curiosity among the audience.
That was the theory - but how does integrated IT management and security look in practice? The answer to this question was provided by representatives from Euroins. They talked about their challenges and shared their experience of implementing the nVision solution and how the new system has eased their tasks.

Data Protection Module&nbsp;was recapping the event. John Bycroft from Comforte AG in a very thought-provoking way touched on the topic of the future of data protection and how it must change to meet new challenges. According to the expert, the solution to the current challenges lies in data-centric security through tokenization, which is already one step ahead of encryption.

 Create your&nbsp;ticket approval flows
In Axence nVision®14, you can easily create your own ticket approval flows, indicating the people who should decide on the execution of a specific ticket. The system itself will send notifications with a request for approval and notify the appropriate people in your organization.
Enable secure apps in a convenient, self-service&nbsp;software repository
From now on, instead of constantly authorizing the installation of the same application on dozens of computers, it is enough to add it to the list of trusted programs and each user will be able to install it themselves. As a set of authorized applications is created by the IT department, users have access to them directly from the nVision agent on their computers.
New notification channels about alarms
Among other novelties, it is also worth highlighting additional notification channels to which an alert from nVision can be sent. Now, apart from text messages, e-mails and desktop notifications, you can also receive notifications about alerts via MS Teams and Slack messengers. The commercial SMS API application is at your disposal, too!

 <h2>What is 'Follina' Zero-Day Vulnerability and how can you protect against it?</h2>

 Until now, in the overwhelming majority of cases, it was enough to have macros disabled to deal with infected Microsoft Office. However, it is not the case with Follina vulnerability that works completely different - you just need to open a text file to run a dangerous script.
In short, the way it works is that opening a Word document downloads an external HTML file that contains the instruction that executes the msdt.exe command. This is how the MSDT* system tool is launched, with which you can execute any code in PowerShell.
Unfortunately, as of today, no security patch from Microsoft is available. To protect yourself from Follina vulnerability, go to Axence nVision® in:

Users -&gt; All Users -&gt; Atlas Info -&gt; Locks -&gt; Application Blocking → and then block the msdt.exe application.
</div>
It is also advisable to create an automatic report displaying the employee's accounts on which msdt.exe was run and checking it on a regular basis. In nVision, such a report can be automatically generated and sent to the indicated e-mail address.
It is also worth considering permanently disabling PowerShell from being run by employees. Our experience shows that the vast majority of organizations do not have such a blockade, and thus, make themselves more vulnerable to potential attacks.
Here’s the way you can do that:
Users -&gt; All Users -&gt; About Atlas -&gt; Locks -&gt; Application Blocking → and then typing powershell.exe.
In this case, it's also a good idea to set up automatic reports showing which computers PowerShell is run on. If you want to find out more information about Follina vulnerability, check out our next article.

 The owners of Android smartphones will be able to monitor inventory assets not only in the nVision console, but also in the mobile application. It will not only allow to add and edit assets, but also to search for them in the system by scanning the label. We encourage all customers with a valid Service Agreement to download and test the application.
A lot of changes also appeared in nVision itself. Staying on the subject of inventory - the document generator is worth mentioning. From now on, it is enough to create a template of the required protocol, and use it whenever needed.
In the previous version, we integrated nVision with Windows Defender. Thanks to that, it is possible to control the anti-virus from the console level. Now, it's time for Windows Firewall! In this way, we are taking the next step towards centralizing security in one tool.
The dark mode that we previously introduced in AdminCenter appealed to our users so much that we decided to introduce it in other areas as well. So we followed the blow and in the latest version we provide an additional (dark) view mode in the SmartTime and HelpDesk modules.

We would like to inform that on account of the change in the legal form of our business activity to spółka jawna [general partnership], on 31.05.2021 Axence Spółka z ograniczoną odpowiedzialnością spółka komandytowa [limited liability company limited joint-stock partnership] with registered office in Kraków (the existing code in the National Court Register [KRS]: 0000314005) was transformed into Axence spółka z ograniczoną odpowiedzialnością spółka jawna [limited liability company general partnership] (the code in the National Court Register [KRS]: 0000903894). NIP [tax identification number] (6751399589) and REGON [national business registry number] (120773290) and the address of the company after transformation: ul. Na Zjeździe 11, 30-527 Kraków, have remained the same.
 We would like to inform that starting from 01.06.2021 all settlement documents shall bear the new business name of the company. Please include it in settlement documents issued for the Company by its counterparties.
At the same time we would like to highlight that all contact details and e-mail addresses as well as other channels of communication with the Company remain the same. What is more, the transformation shall not influence in any way the implementation of obligations of the Company nor change the rules of existing cooperation.

 <h2>The latest Axence nVision® version introduces key improvements. Because of deepening integration nVision’s console with Active Directory and new widgets in AdminCenter the organisation's security is enhanced.</h2>

 Improved integration enables that Axence nVision® now has access to information about computers prom Active Directory. Now you can easily check which computers already have the Agent installed and which ones are still not monitored. This knowledge will allow us to change it and remove the gaps in our security. In addition to information about the device itself, we can now also check which Organizational Unit (OU) belongs to and make groups based on this affiliation. 
Another place that will show us the devices that should be especially taken care of is the new widget in AdminCenter presenting the last devices detected in the network. Work in dashboards is also facilitated by filters added in the latest version. Thanks to them, we can filter out low priority events from our views and focus only on those that are serious and critical. Another new, useful filter is the ability to group actions performed on files by device type.
